Expert Care from Someone Who's Been There!
Our bodies are naturally designed to heal, but modern life often disrupts this process. Stress, exhaustion, chemicals, and injuries can weaken our healing energy, making recovery harder.
I take a holistic approach to restore balance by addressing the root cause of energy imbalances. Using safe, natural therapies, I strengthen your body’s healing ability while empowering you to take an active role in your well-being. Together, we create lasting changes for a healthier, more vibrant life.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of micro-fine needles into specific points on the surface of the body, which have a direct relationship with internal organ systems.
Acupuncture activates your body’s nervous system and circulatory system, which regulates the production, secretion and transportation of various molecules, including endorphins, neurotransmitters and hormones. By regulating your body’s physiological functions, homeostasis and health may be restored within the body.
Our clinic uses sterilized, single-use, stainless steel needles that are so thin the diameter is often compared to that of a human hair. Insertion is relatively painless and the sensation is often described as warmth, pressure, heaviness, or tingling. Most patients report a profound sense of relaxation and well being after acupuncture.
Cupping is a technique that uses suction to apply glass or plastic cups to specific areas of the body, such as the back.
The cups are held in place or moved along specific meridians in order to promote the circulation of blood and lymph. This technique is often used to relax muscles, alleviate pain, or treat coughing and asthma. Cupping can also draw toxins into the peripheral vasculature so that the liver can detoxify them more readily. Cupping can be performed to your level of tolerance so there is no discomfort, and most patients agree this therapeutic modality is relaxing, soothing, and effective.
Chinese herbal medicine is regarded as a powerful complement to acupuncture treatment. Many practitioners use Chinese herbs as a way of offering the body continual therapeutic input between acupuncture treatments. By taking herbs on a daily basis, the positive momentum created by acupuncture is enhanced. Single herbs are typically formulated into synergistic combinations to produce maximum therapeutic results without side effects.
Furthermore, custom formulas are created based upon the unique constitution and diagnosis of each patient. When properly practiced, Chinese herbal medicine is a safe, effective alternative to harsh pharmaceutical medications. We prescribe herbs with the utmost integrity and skill, and are properly trained in contraindications and herb-drug interactions. We source the highest quality herbs from companies that perform rigorous testing for potency, purity, and safety.
In order to maximize the benefits of your treatment, we suggest arriving 10-15 minutes early, so you can begin relaxing. Plan on spending 90 minutes for your initial office visit, to allow time for a detailed health history, physical exam, and acupuncture treatment. Return visits are approximately 60 minutes.
It is helpful to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that can be rolled up to the knees and elbows, but gowns are available if needed. Additionally, try to eat a light snack a couple of hours prior to treatment so you do not experience any light-headedness. Do not brush or scrape your tongue as this can disrupt the natural coat which is inspected during examination, and please refrain from using caffeine, alcohol or other drugs prior to treatment. We also encourage you to avoid rigorous physical activity two hours before and after your treatment. As a courtesy to our other patients, please keep your voices low, turn cell phones off or to vibrate, and avoid wearing strong perfumes.
Your first visit includes a review of your health history, a pulse and tongue assessment, and a personalized acupuncture treatment. We’ll also chat about simple lifestyle shifts to support your healing and well-being.
